Thanks Barrie. Interesting point - I guess the black & white selection includes more documentary / historical photos, whereas this selection has more photos which rely on shapes and composition?

Maybe ... I definitely know the Meyorowitz shot (and thought it was a BnW ... shows my recall!) and I like the storytelling in it ... the Glasgow shot is super interesting. I guess I might just be drawn to the timelessness of black and white.

Fantastic selection, thank you, and some good links to check out. Wow, I absolutely love that Saul Leiter one. Now to check out your b&w picks, I’ve come at these from the wrong direction!

Thank you. I hope you find some interesting nuggets in those links.

Glad you love the Saul Leiter photo - he’s a wonderful photographer and had a lovely attitude to life.

I need to cheat again and do another 8 desert island photos - I’ve missed so many that should have made the cut!

A few familiar ones here too Andrew, from your social media postings of the past. I won't post colour offerings as after B&W my mind is drifting to DI Poetry, Art or Literature. Next year my weekly posting will take on the idea of a photo and story, much as you have posted now and again. Mine a 'Journey' of my first year in Blaydon-on-Tyne....

So many places to be nowadays... how's Mastadon treating you?

Really like it Andrew. There's none of the vitriol of Twitter (although I know a few of us were lucky to have a quiet corner). People on Mastodon are more comfortable in sharing who they are and what they feel and think, without fear of abuse or trolling. My engagement is with a whole assortment of people across the globe (Mastodon is much less USA centric). And the engagement feels genuine not just someone wishing to look good. I'm only staying on Twitter as a few of those I enjoy engaging with haven't moved across.
